This masters degree is specially designed for those working with official statistics, with a one-week course format and many specialist topics closely aligned with the procedures for measurement and evaluation in government and related organisations. Successful completion will strengthen your abilities and enhance your career as a government statistician.

The MSc programme has been developed jointly by the University of Southampton and the UK Government Statistical Service (GSS) to cover the core skills and knowledge needed by professional government statisticians. Both the GSS Human Resource Committee and the Office for National Statistics (ONS) Human Resource Committee have given their full backing and support for the programme.

Typical modules include: Demographic Methods, Evaluation and Monitoring, Survey Sampling, Introduction to Survey Research, Time Series Analysis, Statistics in Government, Index Numbers, Regression Modelling
