Entry requirements

GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in Literacy and Numeracy at Level 2. This is a government requirement, and ‘equivalent qualifications’ are as designated by the PGCE admissions team (IELTS qualifications are not considered equivalent).

You should have a good honours degree from a British University or its recognised equivalent in a subject usually taught in the post-compulsory sector.

Course content

The programme is a recognised teaching qualification for graduates who would like to teach and/or train, on a full or part time basis, in further or 6th form colleges or within any part of the Learning and Skills sector.

The PGCE – FE is a valuable post graduate qualification for any individual wishing to teach in the FE Learning and Skills sector. This will include FE and sixth form colleges and possibly adult training environments or those wishing to work in adult and community education.You will develop skills in planning, delivering and assessing learning activities, combined with an understanding of the learning process and background to post-compulsory education and training. You will undertake a short research project aimed at improving an aspect of teaching and learning.
