Entry requirements

The following bachelor degrees allow you admission to the programme: A bachelor's degree in Software Engineering; a bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a minor in software, engineering from University of Southern Denmark*; BEng in Information and Communication Technology with a minor in software engineering from University of Southern Denmark*. * You are obligated to take part in special elective courses. If you have a similar Danish or foreign bachelor's degree in these areas, you may be admitted if your academic qualifications correspond with the bachelor degrees mentioned above.

Course content

Software is included in many aspects of our daily lives, both in companies and society in general. Therefore, there is a great need for software experts to develop products that are relevant to both consumers and businesses and which meet the needs of society.

During your studies in engineering, you learn to develop state-of-the-art software products and services. Simultaneously, you will be able to improve the products and services we know today. You will learn how technology is best used to develop efficient solutions – not only from a technical point of view but also from a user perspective.

Five subject areas

The study programme has five subject areas:

  • Software lifecycle
  • Intelligent software
  • Software ecosystems
  • Datascience
  • Innovative software solutions

Software lifecycle

The aim of software lifecycle is to investigate the different aspects of software lifecycle and to understand and improve the different activities and corresponding challenges, methods, technologies and tools to create complex software systems and prepare the way for optimization and innovation.

Intelligent software

Software intelligence is software that adapts to the user's intentions and context, software that solves complex multiparameter problems or teaches itself to make intelligent decisions and identify data patterns.

Software ecosystems

Software exists in an ecosystem of applications, systems and resources. Well-functioning software will be designed for the ecosystem and take into account continuous changes in the ecosystem and the interplay between each element.

Data science

Data science is the extraction of knowledge from data. There will be particular focus on collection, filtering, processing, imaging and distribution of data. The development of effective and ethical methods of using enormous amounts of data is a huge challenge for science and for society as a whole.

Innovative software solutions

Software makes it possible to create new and unexpected solutions in the automation of activities and processes that were impossible with mechanical or analogue technologies. Read more about the programme structure

Project- and research-based learning environment

You will be part of a study-based and collaborative learning environment in which you work in project teams. You and your fellow students are responsible for planning and implementing the project – and at the set deadline.

Information for international students

International students can apply for accommodation through the university. Some rooms are on campus, others spreads across the city.
