The Pre-Masters is a one-year full-time preparation programme which focuses on academic English language and study skills, integrated with academic lecture and seminar courses in a variety of subjects. The programme is taught by University of St Andrews staff who are members of the Centre for International Foundation Programmes team together with lecturers from the School of Management.
The main aim is to improve the students' academic study skills and English, so that by the end of the course, they are able to write a 3000-word academic essay, give an effective academic presentation, take adequate notes from lectures, read academic journals, textbooks and articles effectively, and are able to participate fully in academic life at masters level in a UK university.
The second aim of the course is to provide a solid base in various business-related subjects through a series of academic lecture and seminar courses delivered by staff from the School of Management. Topics covered include:
- Introduction to Management
- The Practice of Management
- International Business
- Human Resource Management
