Course content

The programme of study aims to provide a professional development route for existing sport development practitioners in local authorities, national governing bodies, private organisations and other related professions. In addition the course will also be beneficial to recent graduates looking to improve their career opportunities.

Students will study modules relating to:

  • Physical Activity & Health*
  • Applied Professional Practice*
  • Dissertation*
  • Professional Development and Public Policy
  • Research Methods

    *Students will have the opportunity to tailor their studies to meet their individual interests or requirements of their organisation.

Assessment of all modules is by course work. Students are fully briefed on the assessment methods in the Subject Handbook and further guidance is provided by the course team and Module Guides. The process of assessment provides a measure of judgement on the strengths and weaknesses of individual students, and provides feedback for both staff and students.

By the end of the course students will have experiences a range of assessment methods which include:

  • Professional Practice Report
  • Research Proposal
  • Masters Dissertation
