Course content

This is a post-qualifying course for managers and supervisors working in health and social services. The Certificate comprises two stand-alone modules which can be taken in either order. Supervising, Managing or Mentoring (MSSPA1) is for professionals involved in supervising, managing or mentoring within health and social services organisations. The course is appropriate for supervisors working in both statutory and voluntary sector settings and is offered both to specialist groups of supervisors from child welfare and protection and to mixed groups spanning diverse areas of practice: children’s services, criminal justice social work and adult health and social care. Leadership and Management in Social Services (MSSPA2) is for frontline managers keen to pursue their professional development and to develop the capabilities and competencies required to be an enabling leader and an effective manager. The course is delivered to managers working across different sectors and specialisms within health and social services.
