Entry requirements

MSc: BEng with First Class Honours, or equivalent overseas qualification, in a marine or marine-related engineering subject. It is essential to have sufficient knowledge on structural mechanics, hydrostatics, fluid dynamics, ship resistance and propulsion, ship design, etc.

Course content

This programme is designed for graduate engineers in naval architecture, offshore engineering, mechanical engineering and others from related disciplines who wish to acquire advanced knowledge on ship and offshore technologies. The course is offered jointly between the University of Strathclyde and Hamburg University of Technology in Germany, and the awards are made in the name of both universities.

MSc and Diploma students from Scotland and non-UK EU countries may be able to get fees-only support from the Student Awards Agency for Scotland (www.saas.gov.uk). In addition there are a limited number of scholarships from industry including BP and Lloyd’s Register. Applications should be made to the Department in the first instance.
