Course content

This is a new award designed to provide those with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), or those studying on a QTS-only teacher training course, with the opportunity to gain academic accreditation for their professional practice and engagement with pedagogy. Unlike other PGCE awards, this course is not linked to a specific subject or age phase but explores the core expectations of teachers, their ability to plan a curriculum and evaluate impact, and their engagement with the theory underpinning successful practice.

Assessment

You are assessed through a 5,000-word essay, the presentation of directed tasks, and a portfolio of evidence presented within a viva at the end of the course.

Additional entry information

You must be a graduate of an approved institution of Higher Education. You should demonstrate that you have either met QTS (hold a QTS certificate) or are registered on a nonaward-bearing course leading to QTS involving a period of professional practice of over 120 days.
