Whether it is bringing cost-effective relief to osteoarthritis sufferers, helping children overcome communication problems, or developing robotic technology so people can live independently, UWE Bristol is pioneering exciting innovations in the allied health professions.
Our Centre for Health and Clinical Research is world-renowned for its research into long-term conditions; children and young people; emergency and critical care; patient and public involvement in research and evaluative research. This is conducted alongside UWE Bristol's research centres and in collaboration with organisations, educational institutions, and health and social care services worldwide.
With the option to study full-time or alongside your work, this Masters of Research enables you to deepen your knowledge in a specific area alongside our world-class research community.
After developing a solid grounding in academic research practice, you will focus your specialism, so you graduate in one of the following:
- Occupational Therapy
- Diagnostic Imaging
- Physiotherapy and Sports Therapy
- Radiotherapy and Oncology
Although there is plenty of autonomy, you will be supported throughout by a supervisor. And once you have decided on your research project, you can test hypotheses using state-of-the-art resources, simulation suites and online materials.
Real world experience
If you are working, you can tailor research to your workplace. Thanks to our diverse partners, there are opportunities for you to work on projects with organisations ranging from NHS Trusts and the Royal National Hospital for Rheumatic Diseases, to Bristol City Council and Bristol Health Partners. Throughout the course, you will also record activity so you graduate with a professional training development portfolio that relates to your current or future employment.
On graduation, you will have advanced skills in design data, collection and analysis, and a strong understanding and evidence base in your area of interest. You can also use credits towards a PhD, so you can continue to deepen your knowledge and research experience.
