Course content

University of the West of Scotland’s Master of Business Administration (MBA) course has been re-designed and will be re-launched in 2014. An MBA is a qualification which is recognised the world over.

The new UWS MBA, delivered in partnership with Olympia College Malaysia, has been redesigned to reflect the ever-changing nature of business, and the global challenges which business leaders are facing.

Olympia College will deliver the MBA (full and part-time) across its 4 campuses in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Petaling Jaya, Johor Bahru from May 2014, subject to final Malaysian government approval.

The course focuses on developing strategic analytical skills as well as business intuition and enquiring and adaptive thinking. The new MBA has been structured and designed to allow you, through the selection of option modules, to focus in one of three areas: Finance; Leadership; or Enterprise. This allows you to align your MBA studies to your current career, or career aspirations.

The UWS Business School has been providing MBA education to a global audience since the late 1980s primarily through part-time and online/distance learning modes of study.

Removing the traditional barriers between different cohorts of learners (classroomm-based and distance learning) means that the new MBA will create a unified model of learning for all students regardless of your preferred mode of study. So, for example, full- and part-time students in Malaysia will learn and engage with full-time, part-time and online/distance learning students being taught by UWS staff based in the UK or overseas.

Full-time and part-time students in Malaysia will augment their learning by accessing study materials, interacting with each other, engaging in online discussions and submitting coursework etc. via the UWS Online MBA World (UWS's bespoke virtual learning hub).

The new UWS MBA is designed to produce graduates of the highest calibre who can respond creatively and effectively to often unpredictable future challenges of globally competitive business environments.
