Course content

The course aims to strengthen teachers’ leadership skills, through critical reflection, practice-based research, and collaboration. This will support your professional development by equipping you with the skills and knowledge for effective leadership.

The programme will examine the challenges of implementing and managing change; with a particular focus on curriculum development. It will enhance knowledge and understanding of school management responsibilities.

The course will be delivered in English but all students are able to submit their work in either English or Welsh.

The course aims to provide teachers with the confidence to establish and develop their leadership roles. The programme offers an opportunity:

  • To improve prospects for leadership progression in school.
  • To develop an understanding of the wide range of inherent school management responsibilities — staff management, budget, data analysis, curriculum development, etc.
  • To reflect and evaluate personal leadership skills and styles.
  • To explore innovative ideas and assess their validity with colleagues.
  • To establish research strategies to inform decision-making through analysis of school data and critical review of theory and directives.
  • To engage in a professional discussion of current practice and legislation.
