Entry requirements

A first or second class undergraduate degree or the equivalent, from a university or other institution acceptable to the University of West London. The degree does not need to be in psychology, but in a field appropriate to the course (e.g. nursing, law, economics, medicine, politics, IT, social work, occupational therapy, history or an appropriate professional or technical application, etc). All subjects/applications are considered on an individual basis, especially if accompanied by volunteer or field experience.

Course content

The first postgraduate programme in global health psychology offered in the United Kingdom. This cutting edge course provides an opportunity to impact upon health care on a global scale. It focuses on the emergence, practice, delivery and policy of health psychology and mental health from a worldwide perspective. The course consists of six taught modules:

  • introduction to global health psychology
  • global mental health
  • global health psychology research methods (part one
  • global health psychology research methods (part two
  • scaling up global health psychological services
  • promotion and prevention in global health psychology
  • dissertation.

The course will be of particular interest to individuals and organizations from both mental health and non-mental health backgrounds, who seek to understand more about psychological issues and the implementation of mental health care across diverse cultural populations. It will also be of value to those who may be seeking to assume positions in global healthcare organisations, health-related research institutions, non-governmental and governmental organisations and private consultancies with a global developmental agenda.
