Entry requirements
You will need: a minimum classification of 2.1 in a first degree (or equivalent); and, preferably, a Masters degree (or Masters degree pending); and (if English is not your first language) appropriate English Language qualifications (you will normally be required to achieve minimum IELTS scores of 6.5 or equivalent). You will also need to have the commitment and motivation to undertake a sustained programme of independent and self-directed study and training as a researcher.

Course content
Based within our Faculty of Science and Technology, our research into Pharmacology, Toxicology & Pharmacy involves experienced and research-active staff who work in close collaboration with the bio-industry, NHS and other research institutions within the UK, Europe and the US. Our facilities at the Cavendish Campus are equipped with state of the art instrumentation.Our research focuses on a range of areas including:
the use of biomarkers to guide drug development and target medicines toward specific populations;
identification and development of new therapeutic approaches to disease;
and the detection of disease & pathogens, genomics and epidemiology.
Information for international students
If English is not your first language you must demonstrate English language skills to the equivalent of IELTS 6.5 at commencement. We will then expect you to undertake courses to develop your English language competence to the equivalent of IELTS 7.0 in your first year of study.
