In addition to the academic requirements. Applicants will be expected to include a CV with their application. Please note: non-standard applicants may be considered with extensive work experience in the fashion industry at any level or field.

Course content

The Fashion Manufacturing MA addresses current industry challenges and skills shortages by focusing on apparel production, systems, sourcing, and manufacturing processes. This research-driven, industry-informed course is designed to meet the evolving needs of fashion manufacturing, from design and product development to innovative production techniques.

Developed with our industry partner the UK Fashion and Textile Organisation (UKFT), the course aims to equip you with the knowledge and expertise to challenge traditional fashion manufacturing systems. It emphasises technology and design for manufacturing, helping you become a specialist capable of driving innovation in the industry. You’ll also have the opportunity to critically examine existing practices, addressing social, ethical, cultural, and political issues within the context of fashion.

The course explores new production models, advanced processes, and offers hands-on industry engagement, ensuring you are prepared for leadership roles. You’ll gain valuable skills in prototype manufacturing and garment production.

Throughout the course, you’ll have access to state-of-the-art industry machinery, specialist software, and expert teaching staff, providing a dynamic learning environment. This MA integrates global insights and practical expertise, preparing you to thrive in the digital fashion industry. It fosters employability, entrepreneurship, and global fluency, bridging design, business, and production.

Graduates will be equipped for leadership roles in fashion production, garment technology, and manufacturing management.
