You will need: a minimum classification of 2.1 in a first degree (or equivalent); and, preferably, a Masters degree (or Masters degree pending); and (if English is not your first language) appropriate English Language qualifications (you will normally be required to achieve minimum IELTS scores of 6.5 or equivalent). You will also need to have the commitment and motivation to undertake a sustained programme of independent and self-directed study and training as a researcher.

We specialise in research into the planning and management of all modes of transport, at local, national and international levels. Key research areas include Air Transport and Air Traffic Management, Cycling, Freight Transport and Logistics and Public Passenger Transport.

If English is not your first language you must demonstrate English language skills to the equivalent of IELTS 6.5 at commencement. We will then expect you to undertake courses to develop your English language competence to the equivalent of IELTS 7.0 in your first year of study.
