Entry requirements
You will need: a minimum classification of 2.1 in a first degree (or equivalent); and, preferably, a Masters degree (or Masters degree pending); and (if English is not your first language) appropriate English Language qualifications (you will normally be required to achieve minimum IELTS scores of 6.5 or equivalent). You will also need to have the commitment and motivation to undertake a sustained programme of independent and self-directed study and training as a researcher.

Course content
Based in our Faculty of Architecture and the Built Environment, our Urban Research Group involves a cross-disciplinary group of researchers whose areas of interest include:Housing and related social policy;
international development;
regeneration;
urban and regional planning;
urban design;
and urban studies.
We have a thriving community of PhD students and offer supervision to suitably qualified applicants whose topics engage with our research interests.
Information for international students
If English is not your first language you must demonstrate English language skills to the equivalent of IELTS 6.5 at commencement. We will then expect you to undertake courses to develop your English language competence to the equivalent of IELTS 7.0 in your first year of study.
