Entry requirements

You will need a good degree (Upper Second class or above) in Music or Popular Music, with strengths in Music Performance and/or Music Performance Studies. Arts graduates will be considered through interview/audition as appropriate. If you have a Lower Second class degree, you will be interviewed and/or auditioned to determine your suitability for the course.

Applicants from overseas should also have a good standard of written and spoken English (normally IELTS 6.5 or equivalent)

Course content

The new MMus Music degree is aimed at successful graduates from Music or Popular Music courses who possess particular interests and strengths in the following areas:

  • music performance and leadership
  • musical direction and conducting
  • analysis and musicology
  • composing and performing your own material

Study at Master's level in Music will offer you a dual emphasis in Music Performance and Music Performance Studies, aiming to develop your knowledge and critical awareness of current trends and opportunities in the professional practice of music and musical performance.
