Entry requirements

• A good honours undergraduate degree (second class or above) from a UK university or overseas equivalent, or a professional qualification and/or experience considered to be equivalent to the above. Whilst the undergraduate honours degree can be in a non-cognate discipline, a good quantitative background would be helpful.
• A reference from a tutor who has supervised the applicant’s undergraduate studies and/or employer;
• Students may apply for recognition of prior learning (RPL) subject to the guidelines set out in the RPL Handbook. RPL includes accreditation of prior certificated learning and /or accreditation of prior experiential learning.

Course content

The MSc International Banking and Finance programme will provide you with the knowledge and skills required in order to solve complex problems within the dynamic environment of international banking and finance. The course addresses the key contemporary topics in the modern dynamic banking environment.

You will explore the importance of international financial markets, foreign exchange markets and the role of multinational banks. You will also examine the relationship between risk management and regulation, including the role of capital and liquidity management. You will develop an understanding of the contribution of financial institutions to the economy and the various risks that these institutions encounter and manage them. You will gain practical skills in understanding international investment, portfolio management, international finance and financial modelling.

During the course, you will engage in problem-based learning and a number of activities aimed at developing the personal and professional skills required in modern organisations. Case studies drawn from a diverse and international range of businesses will aid understanding of the banking and finance context.
