Students will normally need: a good degree (UK 2.1 or above, USA grade point average 3.2 or above, China average degree score 80 or above); or a teacher training qualification from a recognised University/College; or formal evidence of teaching experience; and teaching experience of approximately 3 years. If you are a non-native English speaking applicant you must provide evidence of your English language ability. You need to show enough fluency in all aspects of English (reading, writing, speaking and listening) to the required level of the course you're applying to.

This course is a professional development distance learning programme and is specially designed to cater for the needs of a range of professionals currently, or about to be, involved in aspects of teaching English to young learners, including children up to 16 years of age at pre-school, primary and secondary level.
The types of professional looking for such a distance programme will include teachers, heads, school managers, teacher trainers, advisors, writers and publishers. The programme involves attendance at two intensive introductory modules, either online, or face-to-face at a partner learning centre. An intensive module will take place at the beginning of each of the two years of study.
