Entry requirements

Candidates for entry to the MA programme must normally possess one of the following: Graduates with an honours degree at 2:1 or above in a related subject (e.g. Drama, Theatre, Live Art, Place/Space/Time Based Art) will normally register for the MA. OR Graduates with an honours degree from another discipline and working in a professional arts environment or with extensive experience of arts practice. Academic tutors will consider such applications on an individual basis.

Course content

MA Applied Theatre is an exciting taught postgraduate degree that offers the opportunity to explore key concepts and methodologies in applied theatre and performance.

It is a practice-focused programme that places your own work as a thinking practitioner at the heart of investigations into processes and techniques.

It provides you with the opportunity to develop advanced skills and knowledge in the use of theatre and performance in participatory, community and social contexts.

MA Applied Theatre is part of a vibrant suite of practice-based taught postgraduate programmes in the creative arts, Whilst your focus will be on Applied Theatre, there will also be opportunities for exciting cross-disciplinary study across these two programmes.

Information for international students

International students will need to demonstrate that they have equivalent experience /qualifications as home students (ie same entry criteria as above). If their first language is not English they must show evidence of English Language competence at IELTS level 6.0 (in all areas of the test) or equivalent.
