Entry requirements

Candidates for entry to the MBA Human Resource Management programme must normally possess:

  • I. UK/EU students will be able to enter the programme directly in accordance with University entry requirements for MBA programmes (a first degree achieved at Class 2:2 or above from an approved university or institution) or possess an equivalent qualification.
  • II. In addition to the qualifications above, non-UK/EU students whose first language is not English, will be required to achieve IELTS 6.0 or above, with no less than Band 6 in Writing Skills, or an equivalent qualification accepted by the University (see http://www.yorksj.ac.uk/international/how-to-apply/english-language-requirements.aspx)..
  • III. For part-time applicants who are in employment, careful counselling will be given so that they understand that this is a pre-experience programme. If you do not meet the stated entry requirements above, the University APEL policy may be utilised for entry to the programme where necessary and appropriate. The programme may use this system to allow entry for post-experience professionals who have been in management for at least 2 years. This is likely to involve the submission of evidence of professional competence (an assignment to the Head of Programme) and an interview as part of the recruitment process.

The Masters of Business Administration (MBA): Human Resource Management (HRM) offers participants with aspirations of a career in business management the opportunity to gain a practitioner-focused MBA, laying the foundations for a critically aware and holistic understanding and experience of business management whilst also undertaking two HRM specific modules and a HRM specific research investigation to support the MBA specialist route.

The MBA: HRM programme provides all the benefits associated with an MBA award whilst allowing you to study a programme that exposes you to the more detailed HRM aspects associated with a career in management and executive development.
