Graduate Software Test Consultant (BTS) - Dorset

Job description

At the cutting-edge of technology, you will be at the heart of innovative projects that Capgemini are building and delivering to our major clients in both public and private sectors. Throughout the whole project lifecycle our technology solutions are put through rigorous testing by a team of highly skilled and naturally-inquisitive individuals – people who know that “what if…” is sometimes the most important question we can ask.

Your role

Ensuring that our clients’ new or updated products are excelling in every way, you will apply testing techniques to design and execute tests which verify that Capgemini projects are meeting the lofty heights of quality excellence – and that every delivery is free from critical bugs.

  • You’ll analyse business and system requirements in order to understand the desired functional behaviour
  • You’ll design and specify the tests that will need to be executed, and successfully passed, to ensure the quality of the product
  • You’ll execute tests and solve problems logically by pinpointing and analysing defects, and you’ll ensure that the Capgemini solution and any external interfaces meet the required quality criteria
  • You’ll witness the entire lifecycle of a product, working with multidisciplinary colleagues as you learn in the role and further your knowledge.
  • You’ll think creatively to deliver innovative solutions to complex testing challenges – mitigating risk.

Your Graduate Programme

You will embark on our Empower Programme, focused on giving you the impact skills you need for your future. In your learning pod, you will explore your career aspirations, develop your emotional intelligence, tackle innovation challenges from our executive team, and refine your communication skills. Our programme is designed to help you make a real impact on our business and create opportunities for you to shine.

In addition, we bring in a wealth of experts in with real stories – learn about resilience from a polar explorer, adaptability from military commanders, and innovation from serial entrepreneurs. Capgemini Research Institute is a #1 ranked global think tank, so you’ll also access sessions on the latest thinking in data & AI, quantum technology, the future of work, and sustainability

You’ll have access to a personalised coaching platform to develop your self-awareness, and work with your manager and mentor to have meaningful coaching conversations on your career.

Our Graduate Empower Programme also includes:

  • Career progression model
  • Mentoring programme
  • Regular socials across the UK
  • Community Connect Live events – virtual sessions on key cultural themes
  • Lunch and Learns with our senior leaders
  • Charity and volunteer opportunities through university and community initiatives

What we are looking for

  • A bachelor’s degree, ideally with some practical IT experience.
  • Exceptional analytical skills – your capacity to challenge a project and investigate different pathways will be vital.
  • The ability to learn quickly. We’ll expect you to understand a wide variety of business applications and the expectations placed on them.
  • A basic knowledge of any IT tools/coding would be beneficial.
  • Due to the nature of the role and the clients needs, this role requires you to be on the client site 4-5 days a week and so must either live in or be comfortable commuting to Reading, Berkshire or Blandford, Dorset.

Note: A successful candidate will need to go through Developed Vetting Security Clearance. You need to have lived in the UK for the last 10 years with no more than six months out of the country (in order to meet security clearance requirements).

Accepted degree subjects

  • computer sciences and information technology
