About Clyde & Co
Clyde & Co is a leading, sector-focused global law firm with 440 partners, 1,800 lawyers, 2,500 legal professionals and 4,000 staff in over 50 offices and associated offices worldwide. The firm specialises in the sectors that move, build and power our connected world and the insurance that underpins it, namely: transport, infrastructure, energy, trade and commodities and insurance.
With a strong focus on developed and emerging markets, the firm has achieved compound average annual revenue growth of 13% over the last ten years, making it one of the fastest growing law firms in the world with ambitious plans for further growth. We view diversity and inclusion as critical to the international nature of our business and have created a working environment where people from different backgrounds can flourish.
We run a number of vacation schemes in our London and Manchester offices each year, during which students join us for two weeks and learn about the firm and how the law is applied to our core sectors. We also run Bright Futures – a nine month programme aimed at first year law and second year non law students from lower socioeconomic backgrounds – and insight days during which students join us for a day in the office to gain insight into the culture and work of the firm.
You will gain early responsibility with opportunities to develop your skills through close personal supervision and a wide range of training courses. You will undertake four six-month seats, which will cover both contentious and transactional work. You may choose to be seconded to one of our international offices, or have the opportunity to undertake a client secondment. The combination of a wide variety of practice areas, local offices, international and client opportunities means you’ll have the chance to have a broad range of exposure to our whole network.
We’ll make sure you have plenty of support before your training begins – you can look forward to one-to-one sessions with our graduate team covering things like your career preferences; workshops, presentations and training sessions at our offices; an LPC mentoring programme and social events.
The firm is looking for candidates who combine an excellent academic track record with strong commercial acumen and a practical approach to problem-solving. Trainees need to communicate effectively and build relationships with both clients and colleagues.
The Professional Skills Course (PSC) will form the foundation of your professional development as you move forward with your career. It’s supported by various legal, technical and business-focused sessions. In addition to this, you’ll have access to MyDevelopment – an online training resource to support you with your personal and professional development. We also have an extensive training library which will help you to succeed within your role, fulfil your potential and progress your career.
