Our trainees are based in our London or Sheffield office and undertake six four-month seats, ensuring exposure to the firm's core practice areas and sectors.
The firm focuses on four key sectors: Healthcare & Life Sciences, Infrastructure, Real Estate and Technology. Main areas of work include banking and finance, corporate, real estate, pensions and employment, funds and indirect real assets, IP/IT, dispute resolution, planning and environmental law, infrastructure, construction and energy.
Our work includes complex financing and corporate agreements; property acquisitions and portfolio management; handling intellectual property rights; conducting high profile commercial litigation and personal injury cases; and construction and engineering projects around the world.
We are the 2013, 2014 and 2015 winners of 'Best Recruiter – Large City Firm' at the LCN Awards and 2016 winner of ‘Best Trainer – Large City Firm’. In 2011, 2013 and 2015 we won 'The best short-term insight scheme' at the NUE awards, and were finalists in 2014 and 2016.

We recruit all of our trainees from our vacation schemes. Trainees will undertake six four-month seats to ensure maximum exposure to the firm's core practice areas (business advisory, real estate and dispute resolution). Trainees have the opportunity to gain further experience by spending time in specialist areas (e.g. pensions, IP/IT, tax, employment), possibly in our Brussels office, or on secondment to a client. Trainees usually return to the seat they wish to qualify into for the remaining four months of training. This ensures a smooth transition from trainee to qualified solicitor.
We are completely committed to supporting and training our trainees. Once you have accepted a training contract with the firm we will assign you a buddy (a current trainee) who will be a point of contact and will help you to feel a part of the firm. Each trainee will be assigned a mentor, who will be a partner, when they commence their training contract. The mentor will be there to assist and support the trainee during the two years.
We have a career development plan in place so that you will have a structured career path from trainee to partner.
We view our trainees as our partners of the future and aim to retain all our trainees on qualification.
Internships and placements
We recruit all of our trainees from our vacation schemes and we offer up to 55 vacation scheme places firm wide each year. The vacation scheme is designed to ensure you gain a clear insight into our business, the type of work you can expect and the kind of people you'll be working with. As a vacation scheme student you are treated as a potential trainee. You will spend the duration of the scheme (3 weeks) in one department allowing you to grow in confidence, obtain 'real' work and build relationships within your team. You will also take part in numerous social events and meet staff from around the firm. We recruit all of our trainees from our vacation schemes.
