Joining us will give you an introduction into a fast paced and professional working environment. It’s an eye opening experience which will enable you to build upon your university knowledge whilst gaining a valuable insight into our business. We will provide you with a stepping stone from which you can launch an exciting career and truly maximise your potential.

Graduates

The majority of our programmes last for two years and your programme and journey will be unique to you. If your role is on the client side of our business you will typically be assigned to a client project straight away. Others will work on internal projects first and have the opportunity to network across the business and find your feet. To give you as much experience as possible your first couple of projects may only last a couple of months, which will enable you to learn different skills and develop your business knowledge. For others a project could last for over a year which will give you in-depth knowledge in a particular area. Either way you will be equipped with all the necessary tools to kick start your career.

Industrial Placements

If you’re studying a degree that offers the option of completing an industrial placement, we can offer you a fantastic opportunity to join us for twelve months. By the end of your year with us, you will have discovered more about Sopra Steria while building your skills and hopefully be offered the chance to come back and join us as a Graduate.

What we look for

Whilst each programme will have specific requirements, what we’re looking for across all our programmes is a passion for the area you are interested in and a desire for early responsibility. Our business is one that’s driven by client demand which means for all our programmes flexibility is a must. Our clients and our offices are throughout the UK so travel will be required.

A curiosity for how technology can improve business for our clients, as well as a flair for analytical thinking and first-class communication skills. A can-do attitude, the ability to challenge the status quo and look for better ways of doing things alongside a talent for building relationships and collaborating with all kinds of people is also really important.

Your Development

All of our programmes start with intensive upfront training. The length and type of training is specific to each programme but all of our Graduates and Placements will be together for week one. This will be your opportunity to get to know each other, network with people from the business and develop some soft skills along the way.

Across the course of your programme you will have integrated leadership, soft skill and technical development through a blended learning approach. In the second year you will participate in the Prince’s Trust Million Makers Programme allowing you to build essential business and entrepreneurial skills over a period of six months.

Along with your line manager for support, you will also have a buddy, who will be a recent graduate, a great ‘go to person’ and a senior mentor for your programme who can help with all the technical aspects.

If you join us on the twelve month Placement programme, you will train and work alongside our first year graduates. And if you shine on the programme you may be offered the opportunity to come back as a second year graduate.
