Acceptable use

The services offered by Prospects are intended for persons over the age of 16 who are interested in, currently attending or have recently completed an undergraduate or postgraduate course. Users under the age of 16 are welcome to browse the Prospects website, but should not provide us with any personal information nor attend webinars or virtual fairs without parental guidance.

These webinars and virtual fairs are provided as a means of allowing individuals seeking advice on education, employment or more information about certain organisations to connect with employers, educators and advisors (and vice-versa) in an open, professional forum.

As such, we expect all attendees, whether a student, graduate or exhibitor to act in a professional manner at all times while using the services.

Prospects, and exhibitors at such events reserve the right to remove and prevent subsequent access of any groups or individuals engaged in or inciting any conduct that they deem unprofessional without justification, including but not limited to any kind of religious, racial, sexual, political or other prejudice or discrimination or any other activity intended to harm or otherwise disrupt the event.

Protecting your privacy

Webinars and virtual fairs are provided by Jisc Services Limited ("Jisc"), the owners and operators of Prospects.ac.uk and the wider Prospects brand ("Prospects"). The events are underpinned by technology provided by the following third parties:

  • Virtual fairs (EventsAIR) - Please ensure that you have read and agree with their privacy policy before continuing.
  • Webinars (Zoom) - Please ensure that you have read and agree with their privacy policy before continuing.

Your privacy is important to Prospects and we are committed to safeguarding the personal information you provide to us and to protecting your privacy, as well as clearly stating how that information is used to deliver our service to you.

The purpose of this privacy statement is to assist you in understanding how we use personal information collected via the service, and the choices you can make about how your personal information is used.

The information we collect

If you wish to attend one of our webinars or virtual fairs (“event[s]”), we require you to provide us with your name and email address.

We also ask for details of the university that you attended (or are attending), your subject of study, year of graduation, expected or attained degree level and the type of information you're interested in. You're under no obligation to provide this information, but it helps us to ensure that the feedback to any questions you may have during the session are appropriate and relevant, and provide a more personalised service to you.

Prospects don't require any other details from you, however, exhibitors may ask you for additional information so that they can provide you with more accurate or complete responses to any questions that you might ask during the session.

How the information is used

Prior to, during and following an event that you have registered for, Prospects may contact you by email with information relating to the event, similar events and appropriate services. These emails may be sent directly from Prospects or via our external mail provider, Adestra, for more information take a look at their privacy policy.

During the event, exhibitors will have access to the information you provided at registration. This may be used by the exhibitor to provide context to any questions that you ask.

Any questions that you ask will be private, only Prospects and the exhibitor can see these. If the exhibitor feels that the response to your question may benefit other attendees, they may choose to share the question more publicly. In this instance, your name will appear, but no other details. If you’d prefer your question not to be shared, please include the text “PRIVATE ONLY”, so that the exhibitor knows your wishes.

Other than in the above example, none of your information will be visible to other attendees.

Any information provided by you, as part of a question or chat, is done entirely voluntarily and at your own risk. Prospects are not responsible for the content that you post, nor the moderation of that content.

Screenshots from the event may be used for marketing and promotional purposes. In this instance, any personally identifiable information will be obscured.

Following the event, the exhibitors will be provided with your registration details for the purposes of providing you with follow-up communications regarding the information discussed during the session.  If you would prefer not to receive such communications, please contact marketing.prospects@jisc.ac.uk as soon as possible, after the event.

The information may also be used in aggregate form for statistical purposes. Data used in this manner will not contain any personally identifiable information.

Updating or removing your personal information

All registration information will be securely deleted by Prospects 18 months after the end of the event.

Should any of your registration information change prior or subsequent to an event, or you wish to remove your information from our records earlier, or have any further questions regarding the handling of your information, please contact marketing.prospects@jisc.ac.uk

Links to other websites

During an event, links to websites or email addresses that are outside the control of Prospects, may be presented. As these resources are outside the control of Prospects, we cannot accept any responsibility for their content, or content posted to them. These terms of use apply only to webinars and virtual fairs hosted by Prospects.
