Entry requirements
At the School of Management and Business we’re committed to attracting talented scholars at all levels to contribute to the academic vitality and research profile of the school.
We welcome research proposals relating to Accounting, Finance, Economics, Marketing and Enterprise since these represent significant areas of our research expertise.
Furthermore, our Masters programmes in Finance have been especially designed to offer a research training option, to prepare students for progression onto a PhD.
You will need:
- A minimum of at least an upper second class honours degree
- Either a relevant Masters degree or a commitment to study advanced study modules within your chosen discipline
- Research experience or a commitment to study the Research Training modules

Members of staff are always happy to discuss possible PhD and MPhil research programmes in Accounting with suitably qualified graduates. Research should normally be related to one of the main areas of research of the department. Grants from Research Councils and other sources which can help you secure a funded research place may be available through the department, although these are allocated on a competitive basis.
