Course content

This is a taught MSc program available with 1-year or 2-year study options. This course will teach both the practical and theoretical aspects of medically-related molecular biology. Students will undertake a number of taught modules covering a broad range of theoretical and practical medical-molecular topics and an extensive research project with dissertation.
Modules of the 1-year option: medical biotechnology; cellular causes of disease; human immunology and disease; medical applications of genome analysis; molecular and medical techniques; techniques of mol bio & biotechnology; stem cells in therapy and disease; genomes and molecular genetics; project preparation course; research project
The 2-year study option is aimed at students who would benefit from a year of integrated English language and science tuition in preparation for the modules of the 1-year option. to enable progression onto PhD studies in medically related molecular topics.

Information for international students

A two-year course aimed at students from non-European Union countries, who come to the UK requiring pre-MSc level training in English language, and/or basic pre-MSc. Molecular Biology is also available.
