Entry requirements

2(i) undergraduate Honours degree in a relevant science or technology subject is required, such as Biology, Horticulture, Agriculture, Law, Economics, Engineering, Environmental Science.

Applications from mature students who do not have higher education qualifications but have relevant work experience and who have worked for a minimum of 2 years in a position of responsibility and relevance to the degree will also be considered.

This programme is accredited by the Institute of Chartered Foresters and gives partial fulfilment of Professional Membership Entry.

What will you study on this course?

The taught component of this degree (120 credits), consists of 15 credit modules and may include both coursework and/or examination(s).

Dissertation component (60 credits) comprises a dissertation – an independent research project which is led by the student who works closely with an academic supervisor to submit their own high-quality postgraduate level research. 

Applicants not wishing to study for the full MSc (180 credits) can take exit awards of either Postgraduate Certificate (60 credits) or Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits).

ENS-4321 MSc Dissertation (60) Core (Postgraduate Taught)
Block A
Students on the 1 Year degree must take 30 credits from Block A in the first year. Students on the 2 Year degree must take ENS-4304 from Block A in the first year. Students on the 3 Year degree must take ENS-4304 from Block A in the first year.
Block B
Students on the 1 Year degree must take 30 credits from Block B in the first year. Students on the 2 Year degree must take 30 credits from Block B in the first year. Students on the 3 Year degree must take ENS-4306 from Block B in the first year. Please note ENS-4307 Ecological Restoration cannot be taken before ENS-4306 Silviculture but can be taken alongside.
ENS-4306 Silviculture (15) Core (Semester 1)
Block C
Students on the 1 Year degree must take 30 credits from Block C in the first year. Students on the 2 Year degree must take 15 credits from Block C in the first year. Students on the 3 Year degree must take 15 credits from Block C in the first year. ENS-4313 is a pre-requisite for ENS-4314.
Block D
Students on the 1 Year degree must take 30 credits from Block D in the first year. Students on the 2 Year degree must take 30 credits from Block D in the first year. Students on the 3 Year degree must take 15 credits from Block D in the first year. ENS-4313 is a prerequisite for ENS-4314.
