Course content

Study genome biology, DNA mutations, and the molecular basis of ageing with Brunel’s Molecular Genetics MSc programme. You'll explore genome structure, chromatin organisation, and the molecular basis of gene regulation and ageing.

We'll teach you all about chromosome analysis techniques, telomere biology, and somatic and inherited mutations. You’ll also explore rare diseases, cancer genetics, and dynamic genome organisation, with hands-on experience in advanced genomic methods and critical engagement through journal club sessions.

On this degree, you'll delve into the intricacies of genome biology, examining how DNA mutations and molecular processes contribute to ageing and disease, equipping you with the tools to explore genetic regulation and intervention.

You’ll be taught by internationally recognised researchers and gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge laboratories. The programme includes core training in molecular medicine, research methods, and scientific communication modules, alongside a course-specific module and an extensive research project.

At Brunel, you’ll gain hands-on experience through research-led teaching, access to cutting-edge facilities, and valuable industry connections. Whether you're pursuing a future in biomedical research, clinical diagnostics, or the pharmaceutical sector, this degree will prepare you to make a real-world impact in science and medicine.
