Course content

There is an increased need for access to evidence based psychological therapies throughout the UK.

The NHS actively promotes provision of evidence-based practice and CBT is the evidence-based psychotherapy of choice. It can be effective as a stand-alone treatment and can also be used in conjunction with other medical or psychological treatments.

The model is versatile and creative and its techniques can be used selectively in general medical, psychological and nursing practice, as well as informing whole courses of integrated treatment.

This course would be appropriate for those interested in the treatment of mental health problems and may include:

  • psychologists
  • mental health professionals
  • occupational therapists
  • GP's
  • nurses
  • social workers
  • and other suitable graduates.

Professionals who are currently qualified in a different therapeutic approach may enrol for this programme.

On successful completion of the PGDip Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, you can then progress on to our MSc Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Upon completion of the MSc or PGDip in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy graduates can apply for provisional accreditation with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP).
