Course content

If you are interested in becoming a fully qualified practitioner in the Careers sector, able to work with any age group or in any context, this post graduate diploma provides you with the skills and knowledge to do so to the highest level. Taught by experienced and fully qualified tutors you will receive high quality teaching and training in this important sector.

At Canterbury Christ Church University we have developed an innovative post graduate course which embodies the principles and values we are known for by our students, alumni and partners. Amongst the specialist routes is the QCD (Qualification in Career Development) which forms the PG Diploma. Students then have the opportunity to complete the full MA Education (Careers) in the following year alongside students from other disciplines, if they so wish.

The Centre for Career and Personal Development (previously the College of Guidance Studies) at Canterbury Christ Church University has been teaching and training careers practitioners for over 35 years. Our director is a fellow of NICEC and a Foundation Board member of NICE, the European network for innovation in career guidance. We are corporate members of the CDI and hold the current chair of the QCD courses in the UK. We are an active part of the wider career development community but also very much part of the local careers community. In 2014 we launched the Network4Careers; a community of practitioners, alumni and students.

This community meets three times a year, including a conference in the summer. As a student at CCCU you will have free membership of this network, enabling you to learn more about the sector, meet experienced practitioners and be the first to learn about opportunities in the area.

The QCD is mapped against and incorporated into the PG Diploma in Career Development. Some of our modules are shared with other post graduate programme so our students benefit from an exciting cross-disciplinary approach.
