Entry requirements

You will normally have achieved a first class or second class upper division first degree (1st or 2.1 degree classification) in an appropriate subject, and/or equivalent professional standing or experience in a design, design crafts, or creative industries discipline, based upon assessed Accredited Prior Learning (RPL) or assessed Accredited Prior Experiential Learning (RPEL), or a discipline associated with their programme of study. he MA Photography at Cardiff Met will enable you to take your photographic practice to the next level, finding your place within the context of the histories and practices of lens-based media.

This Master’s degree in photography will encourage you to develop new ways of expressing your concerns in imaginative or innovative ways using lens-based and related media. You will develop your authorship of advanced studio work, establish a rigorous connection between practice and theory, and formulate a critical position for your practice.

Our MA Photography will encourage you to engage with key theories and contemporary debate, demonstrating their potential to influence the development, expression and communication of your ideas, and how they can impact upon the success of your future practice as an artist, photographer or researcher.

This postgraduate Photography course is designed for individuals seeking to extend and develop their practice as well as those looking to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the subject.

You will be encouraged to question and interrogate your photographic practice to become autonomous and self-directed, with a trajectory towards progression as a professional practitioner or a future Professional Doctorate.
