Student Testimonial

student working

Dhruvin Patel - BSc (Hons) Optometry, third year

City offers tremendous support for budding entrepreneurs. My ambition allowed me to utilise my knowledge of eye care to start my own company. The CityStarters team helped me through the full-scale production of OcuShield, a protective screen designed to reduce problems such as eye strain, sleep disturbance and increased eye disease, which is caused by blue light transmittance. OcuShield was the winner of CitySpark Stage 1 and Stage 2 and I also received support from within the department to research the early development of OcuShield. Once I have completed my pre-registration year in industry, I hope to expand further into business within eye care or Tech Cit

Nicole Jojic - BSc (Hons) Business Studies, third year

I have always been internationally minded and wanted to experience as much as possible, which is why I chose to do my degree at City and jumped at the opportunity to do an exchange programme in my second year. During my exchange year, I attended the Undergraduate Business School Leadership Conference (UBSLC) hosted by Emory University in Atlanta. There, I met a great number of other ambitious people from all over the world, enhanced my leadership capacity and participated in case competitions. I hope to get a graduate job at one of the established management consultancy firms in London.

Abdul Hakimi - LLB (Hons) Law, third year

City has a strong focus on employability and has been superb at providing future career advice. I have attended many events held at City by different law firms and banks, as well as other groups interested in recruiting law students. I have learnt at City that you must pre-plan your progress towards a role as a lawyer or whatever career you wish to enter into. I will be going on to do my LPC and, after successfully receiving a training contract, will practice law in a city firm.
