DCU's MA in Journalism brings you into the heart of the top-rated journalism and media school in the country, and among the top 200 in the world.
Join the School of Communications, where teaching is informed by both cutting-edge journalism research and professional practice, and where expert educators bring their academic and industry experience directly into the classroom.
Students learn from specialists in political journalism, climate change reporting, data journalism, gender and media studies, and journalism history, ensuring a strong grounding in journalism as both a professional practice and an academic discipline. Alongside this, the programme develops practical skills in news reporting, video and audio production, mobile journalism (MoJo), and news design, equipping graduates for the contemporary media landscape.
The programme is taught by a diverse mix of active researchers and experienced practitioners, offering students the opportunity to engage critically with journalism while also developing industry-relevant skills. State-of-the-art facilities include Mac computer labs, radio studios, and a fully equipped TV studio.
Students also undertake an eight-week internship with a media organisation at the end of the academic year, gaining valuable professional experience and industry connections.
Graduates join a distinguished alumni network that includes many of Ireland’s leading journalists, and are well prepared for careers in newsrooms, policymaking, public affairs, broadcasting, content creation, the NGO sector and public relations.
The success of the MA in Journalism contributes to DCU’s School of Communications being ranked among the top 200 communications schools worldwide in the QS World University Rankings.
