Course content
Gain a deeper understanding of Ireland’s social, cultural, economic and political history from the early modern period to the present day. DCU's MA in History provides a fresh perspective on Ireland's journey from being a colony to becoming an independent state.
This programme delves into how Irish sovereignty has evolved and the changing roles of religion, language, and gender. The MA in History is based in DCU’s School of History and Geography, the only school in Ireland that brings together the disciplines of History and Geography within a single academic unit. This distinctive structure supports an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and research, offering students valuable insights into Ireland’s past within both national and global contexts, and helping them better understand the world today and how it is shaping our future.
