If you’re passionate about psychology and want to inspire the next generation, our PGCE Secondary Psychology is the perfect route into teaching. You’ll learn how to make complex psychological theories and research accessible and bring the fascinating study of mind and behaviour to life. You’ll explore everything from cognitive development to social influence while helping pupils build critical thinking and research skills for life beyond the classroom.

Whether you are a recent graduate or looking to change career, our course provides the high-quality training you need to become a confident, effective and engaging Psychology teacher. Through expert guidance and personalised support, you’ll explore creative, inclusive approaches to teaching and learn how to use these methods to design, deliver and evaluate engaging sequences of lessons that make psychological theories and research meaningful. Using your specialist subject knowledge and your growing skillset, you’ll be well-equipped to teach psychology lessons that are tailored to your pupils’ diverse needs.

Through practical school placements, you’ll gain extensive classroom experience and the opportunity to apply everything you have learned on campus. You’ll develop your classroom presence, refine your teaching strategies and put educational theory into practice. You’ll be supported by your university tutor and school-based mentor and together, they’ll help you connect what you learn in seminars with the realities of everyday teaching. The opportunity to work closely with mentors, colleagues and peers will help you develop essential skills needed for future leadership roles in education.
