Manchester Metropolitan University offers a welcoming, stimulating and supportive environment in which to study for your postgraduate qualification. More than 6,000 students choose to study for a postgraduate qualification at Manchester Met. The University offers more than 250 postgraduate taught programmes and has 14 centres of research expertise.

Entry requirements

Applicants for postgraduate courses should normally hold a UK honours degree, or an equivalent qualification. Some courses have subject-specific requirements, these are listed on the University’s website.

Accommodation

Whether you prefer student halls or a privately rented house, there are plenty of options whilst studying at Manchester Met.

All University rooms are close to where you will study and near to local facilities including shops, restaurants and cafés, and excellent transport links. You will find support whenever you need it, from our Residential Life Team to our 24-hour Security Team.

Facilities

At Manchester Met, the campus is home to impressive lecture theatres, seminar rooms and study zones, as well as an incredible library stocked with more than a million books, journals and e-resources that you can access 24 hours a day during the academic year. You’ll find just as much support too – with digital resources, study workshops and learning support available in a way that suits you.

Learning with us involves a mix of practical skills and academic expertise, as well as having the chance to work with the latest technology and specialist equipment. A campus to be proud of and designed to be kind to the planet – the University is the UK’s number one sustainable university in the People and Planet University League 2021/22. An environment built to help you succeed.

The University recently completed the development of Grosvenor East, School of Digital Arts (SODA), and Institute of Sport buildings providing you with cutting-edge facilities. All three buildings are key developments in the Estates Masterplan Investment Programme which is creating a world-class university for you to enjoy and further improve your learning experience.

Most importantly, they have staff to match the environment and to support you. Your lecturers and tutors, student advisers in the Student Hubs, as well as support services at The Union and the University are there throughout your journey. The University have subject matter experts who are passionate about helping you gain the most out of your studies.

Student support

Manchester Met offers a whole range of specialist services to help you achieve your very best. The Study Skills team is available either online or on-campus through short courses, group workshops and one-to-one appointments, it’s a way for you to get help with academic writing and numeracy, or if you have specific learning difficulties.

The Counselling, Mental Health and Wellbeing Service offer support via one-to-one appointments, group workshops on topics like relaxation, stress and confidence, as well as access to our online platform Togetherall which is available 24/7. MMU Sport also offer support with your fitness through our free Active Campus Programme and Mcr Met Moves app where you can earn rewards for getting active. There is also a chaplaincy team, who offer pastoral support and quiet spaces for prayer or reflection, open to those of all faiths or non-faith.

The Disability Service ensure students are not disadvantaged in their studies as a result of their disability, health condition, or Specific Learning Difficulty. They provide advice about the resources that are available within the University and from external agencies. If you have any support needs, get in touch before your course begins to get the best possible support.

The Language Centre can help international students, with British Council-accredited intensive courses in academic English.

Students' Union

Every student at Manchester Met is automatically a member of the Students’ Union. The Union exists to make sure you have the best experience you can while you’re at university. It’s not just about focusing on academic results but helping you with everything in life while you’re studying. You can join one of the many clubs and societies, buy something from the shop, get expert advice, find out about campaigning and volunteering opportunities, find a place to meet friends and relax, and more.

Whether you already participate in sport or would like to try new activities, there are more than 130 sports clubs and societies to get involved with. Many of Manchester Met’s teams compete in official leagues against other UK universities and colleges. Fees

Students who do not qualify for UK status will normally pay between £16,500 and £18,000, however, tuition fees vary by course. Fees for UK and international students are listed on each course page on the website.
