Entry requirements

A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) with merit achievement deemed to be a grade average of B- or higher OR a professional qualification in a relevant discipline, recognised as being equivalent to merit achievement in a bachelor degree or equivalent

AND

All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Those students whose first language is not English must have graduated from a bachelor's degree in an English speaking country or hold an international English Language Testing System (IELTS) overall academic score of at least 6.5 (with at least 6.0 in each band) issued within the last two years or other equivalent test the New Zealand Qualifications Authority recognises for postgraduate entry.

Course content

The Master of Professional Accounting is a programme designed for graduates from any discipline who aspire to build a rewarding accounting career. Through this programme you will learn to comprehensively understand accounting, finance, and business, while honing essential skills employers seek. This programme emphasises the development of analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, as well as technical accounting skills and research capabilities, ensuring you are well-prepared for the challenges of the professional world.

You'll learn through applied methods such as case studies and scenario-based tasks, supported by a flexible blend of workshops, interactive lectures, online activities, and independent study. You'll also complete a research project in an area of personal interest and have the opportunity to gain real-world experience through an internship.

On graduation, you will have met the academic requiremnets to apply for a provisional membership with accounting bodies; CA ANZ and CPA.
