Foundation Program
Entry requirements
The Foundation Year is intended for students with an MQF/EQF Level 3 or equivalent qualification who wish to pursue a bachelor’s degree at OPIT. A minimum B2 level of English proficiency is required for admission.
- Secondary School Leaving Certificate or equivalent
- English proficiency as B2-level certificate or equivalent
- Strong motivation to pursue higher education in a tech-focused, international environment

Course content
Graduates of the Foundation (60 ECTS) program will be well-prepared to start their Bachelor’s journey at OPIT. They will have a solid command of commonly used operating systems and the ability to communicate effectively in written English across academic and professional contexts. This program lays the groundwork for a confident and successful transition into any of OPIT’s BSc degrees.
OPIT’s Foundation Program equips students with essential knowledge in digital business, computer science, mathematics, writing, communication, and computer literacy. Combining guided learning and independent study, the program prepares students to meet EQF Level 4 standards and provides a solid starting point for bachelor’s studies in IT and related fields.
Every Term lasts 13 weeks:
- Winter term from mid – January to April
- Summer term from mid – May to August
