Course content

Our MA Illustration programme encourages the development of an individual and distinctive illustrative practice, through an engagement with contemporary approaches, contexts, audiences and debates.

While contemporary illustration continues to flourish, becoming far more fluid, outward-looking and interdisciplinary in nature, the role of the illustrator encompasses many new possibilities.

Our programme will help you to become a reflective practitioner who can demonstrate an ability to think deeply and critically, and so operate within, and respond to, the changing landscape of contemporary illustration.

Awareness of contemporary global illustrative practice is a starting point for rigorous investigation and debate, enriching your understanding of both the potential and relevance of the discipline as a whole, as well as your own social responsibilities as an image-maker.

We offer a dynamic studio environment in which to study illustration, with access to workshop areas across the college.
