Entry requirements
A 2:1 or above at undergraduate level in Psychology with suitable content will be considered. Degrees in Medical, Health, and Biological Sciences or other fields related to Psychology will be considered on an individual basis.

Course content
This course will provide you with interdisciplinary training integrating social, developmental, neuroscientific and genetic approaches to understanding psychiatric disorders and will include hands-on training in a range of advanced methods for studying the causes and consequence of mental illness.

Mental illness places a huge burden on individuals, their families and society more widely. This MSc Mental Health Sciences programme places special emphasis on developing key skills in experimental design and statistics as well as advanced hands-on training in many of the specialist methodologies applied to mental health research.
You'll will learn about the signs and symptoms of mental illnesses and the course and treatment of different psychiatric disorders in children and adults and develop the skills required to conduct interdisciplinary, translational research in mental health. You'll also get the opportunity to learn advanced methods in mental health and conduct an in-depth research project focusing on an aspect of mental health that can be investigated from a social, neuroscientific or genetic perspective in healthy populations or animal models.
