Normally a 2.2 Honours degree or above or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University.
Applicants who do not meet the above academic requirements will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Submission of a portfolio and/or interview may be required.
Months of entry
Students complete three taught modules in Semester 1:
Foundations for Sustainable Development 1
Foundations for Sustainable Development 2
Leadership for Sustainable Development
During Semesters 2 and 3, students complete a series of three eight-week placements in partnership with a range of organisations where managing sustainability is key. During the placement, each student conducts an individual research project.
Placement modules are:
Placement 1: Sustainable Development in NGOs
Placement 2: Sustainable Development in Governance
Placement 3: Sustainable Development in Business/Finance
The final module, Effective Leadership: Group Project, is also completed during Semesters 2 and 3.
Students work in small groups in order to identify, plan and execute a significant project which promotes sustainable development.

International students wishing to apply to Queen's University Belfast (and for whom English is not their first language), must be able to demonstrate their proficiency in English in order to benefit fully from their course of study or research. Non-EEA nationals must also satisfy UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) immigration requirements for English language for visa purposes.
Evidence of an IELTS* score of 6.0, with not less than 5.5 in any component, or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the University is required.
