Course content

Looking to further your career in the sport management industry? This masters in sport management will give you the advanced knowledge and skills required for a successful career in sport management. You will develop skills in research, analysis and communication to apply to any career in the sport management, leadership or governance field.

Throughout the core modules, you will be encouraged to critically apply theories, concepts and frameworks in sport management. You will engage in debates and critical evaluation of the local, national and international context, enabling you to think critically about management in the sport industries.

Workshop delivery will involve critically evaluating current practice and engaging in debates with peers and lecturers. You’ll receive continual support through your studies with formative assessments, which will help to assess your knowledge and understanding.

Through choosing assessment titles related to your interest, you will be able to tailor the course towards your own specific career ambitions. Research informed teaching is embedded at Solent and is a key element of the course curriculum on this master’s programme. Staff delivering on the course are research active and have experience of working in the sector.

Information for international students

Applicants who do not have English as their first language will be required to demonstrate an approved level of proficiency in the use of the English language. The agreed minimum requirements for this course are:

  • IELTS minimum 6.0 with no component score below 5.5
  • TOEFL IBT minimum 80 with a minimum of 19 in each individual component
  • or equivalent.
