Future career prospects

More than 97% of our graduates find themselves in full-time employment or postgraduate education within six months of completing their studies (HESA 2022).

English language support

As an international student, you may need to improve your English skills before starting your degree. Our Pre-sessional English courses are specially designed to help you meet the English language requirements for your chosen St Mary’s degree and to prepare you for university study in the UK. Facilities and support arrangements

Our campus, with its extensive green spaces and striking neo-Gothic and modern buildings, has a warm, friendly atmosphere. There is a strong sense of community – when our students walk through the grounds, they will nearly always bump into someone they know.

We have a range of state-of-the-art facilities, including our Library and newly refurbished Student Heart, and our cutting-edge sports centre.

Location

St Mary’s is situated in the London Borough of Richmond-Upon-Thames – a safe, leafy suburb just a few minutes away from the river and less than half an hour from Central London by train.

We are also just a 10-minute walk from Twickenham and Teddington while by bus we are 15 minutes from Kingston, 20 minutes from Hampton Court and 25 from Kew Gardens.

There is good local public transport so students have easy and convenient access to shopping and leisure facilities, in Kingston, Twickenham or Richmond.

Accommodation

St Mary’s is a campus university, with a wide range of accommodation available on campus to suit all budgets and lifestyles including catered, self-catered, single or shared rooms.

There is also a number of halls within easy reach of the University in local areas such as Twickenham and Kingston.

For 2024 entry the costs of University accommodation ranged from £175 - £265 per week.

Culture

There is a huge range of entertainment in the nearby large riverside towns of Kingston and Richmond including cinemas, live music venues, pubs, several theatres, and a bowling alley as well as an excellent range of shops, cafés and restaurants. Kingston night clubs offer special deals for St Mary’s students and you will find other discounts for students in the area.

On top of this, with Waterloo being within reasonable distance, take advantage of everything Central London has to offer from shops and entertainment to the cultural and educational benefits of access to theatres, galleries and the latest exhibitions.

There’s also find plenty of convenient local amenities with the high streets of Teddington and Twickenham within walking distance and offering a good range of shops, restaurants and pubs as well as the University being just a few minutes away from the River Thames and in the grounds of the historic Strawberry Hill House.
