About Staffordshire University
All International students need to have a minimum of IELTS 6.0, however we have a number of support courses available to improve your IELTS score to meet our required standard.
Facilities and support arrangements
We have four different libraries across our Stoke-on-Trent campus and centre of excellences.
At our Stoke-on-Trent campus we have two libraries a 24 hour term time library with resources for almost every course, this includes books, magazines, journals and specialist software. Along with this there are Academic Student Support staff members to help improve your assignments and revision technique and a Café open until 10pm. Our second library at Stoke-on-Trent is a dedicated Law library, found within the law school, all legal journals and information can be found here.
Our Centres of excellence in Stafford and Shrewsbury have dedicated health libraries. In Stafford this will be brand new for September 2016 and found within the main building entrance. In Shrewsbury the library is managed between Staffordshire University and the Royal Shrewsbury Hospital. Located at the back of the University building the library has all study resources needed along with lockers to store your equipment while in practical sessions.
All of our libraries have different work environments to work in, with group study rooms and areas to work collaboratively, quiet and silent working areas to give you the best conditions for you to work in.
While studying with us you get free access to Lynda.com an online learning resource with thousands of tutorials to help you with different topics.
During your course you will use our virtual learning environment: Blackboard. Blackboard will give you access to your course and lecture information along with letting you submit your assignments through it.
There are over 1000 computers to use on our campus/centre of excellences, some of these contain specialist software that you will need for your course.
As a Staffordshire University student you will also have access to download the Microsoft 365 suite for free on five different devices.
At our Stoke-on-Trent campus we have an Ofsted rated “good” Nursery. You can find up to date information along with links on how to apply for a place for your children through the link above.

Our Stoke-on-Trent campus is based in the creative county of Staffordshire. With a full range of services within a close proximity including Alton Towers, dry Ski Slope, Pubs and Clubs you are never too far away from doing something different.
Our campus is next to the Stoke-on-Trent train station and the M6 motorway providing quick and easy links across the whole of the country and beyond.
Employment within the area
If you’re looking for a job while at University there is normally a wide variety to choose from. Alton Towers run recruitment events on campus where you can be offered a job on the same day. There are also opportunities on campus within in the Students’ Union and University.

We have over 1000 single study rooms available in university accommodation on our Stoke-on-Trent campus with en-suite and standard single study rooms along with Leek Road houses.
On Campus accommodation starts from £95 per week (for September 2016).
Private landlords – private student halls, houses and studio flats available there’s plenty of choice for what you want.
Private rent starts at about £65 per week.
From big nights out, to quiet nights in Stoke-on-Trent has it all.
If pubs and clubs are your thing then there is a wide variety of choice around the entire city. From the big lights in Hanley City Centre, where you will find Fiction, The Sugarmill and Reflex to the smaller pubs in Newcastle Under Lyme there’s plenty of places for you to enjoy a night out.
Stoke-on-Trent has a full variety of places to go and things to do. With live theatre in the Regent, to learning new sports at the dry ski slope and climbing walls and the Monkey Forest at Trentham Estate there’s something for everyone in this unique city.
Staffordshire and North Staffordshire in particular (where Stoke-on-Trent is located) is famous for the Staffordshire Oatcakes. [Oatcakes are Stoke-on-Trent’s favourite breakfast] but if Oatcakes aren’t for you then there’s plenty on offer with traditional carveries, pubs and restaurants along with international cuisine,, you could travel the world with your taste buds within a 5 minute drive from campus.
But you don’t have to eat out all of the time to enjoy the varied mix of cuisines. With specialist shops around the city and some next to campus there’s plenty to choose from.
We have an on campus doctor which you can register to when you arrive at Staffordshire University with a number of pharmacy’s within a five minute walk of campus for both prescription and over the counter medicine.
There are a number of dentist’s nearby, with the closest being just around the corner from our Stoke-on-Trent campus
Every year the Students’ Union organises a number of events including, Varsity our annual sports competition against our local university, Nights out in the night club and other events to get to know your fellow students. We also run an International Student programme with events and trips around the Country. These have previously included visiting the Historic city of Chester, the Lake District and London.
