Course content
This Early Years Initial Teacher Training (EYITT) course supports you to meet the requirements of the Department for Education (DfE) Early Years Teachers’ Standards and is built around, and mapped against, three core areas:
- high expectations – the practitioner’s role and safeguarding
- the role of assessment, planning, pedagogy, and environment
- professional behaviours.
You attend the annual Initial Teacher Education Conference. This professional conference is also open to mentors and former trainees. It is organised by the team to develop professional networks, support employment and to celebrate your student journey by showcasing your achievements.
This course leads to Early Years Teacher Status (EYTS), which qualifies you to teach in a nursery or early years setting.
If you want to teach in a primary school, including in a reception class then you need to achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Why study this course:
- accessible for busy practitioners and settings alongside work
- focus on an area of your practice you want to develop
- become part of a community of practice that reaches beyond the course
- fully funded by the DfE
- achieve Early Years Teacher Status.
