Entry requirements

A UK 2:1 honours degree (or overseas equivalent) in economics or another quantitative subject, such as mathematics or computer science. Your course must have included a significant number of mathematical, econometrics and/or statistical units, including advanced options in which top-level marks have been achieved. You should have a solid background in a statistical programming language such as R, Python, Julia or MATLAB.

For applicants with a degree in subjects other than economics, we require experience in economics through study or work experience.

Course content

Study with one of Europe's leading centres for Economics and master an emerging field.
Using different economic theories, you’ll gain an understanding of how data science techniques can inform economic policy. Put the theory into practice from day one and use empirical methods to analyse real-world economic issues and economic policy.
Sharpen up your skills and benefit from comprehensive training in computer programming and statistical models. You’ll also be able to hear first-hand from special guest speakers working in leading organisations in economics and data science, such as the Office for National Statistics, HM Treasury, the Bank of England and private sector companies.
Study exciting topics such as economics, econometrics and finance. You’ll be able to tailor your studies to your own interests with our wide range of optional units, which may include:

  • Economics of Environmental Policy
