Entry requirements

Our minimum entry requirement for this programme is an undergraduate degree at UK Honours level (or a degree from a non-UK institution which is judged by the University to be of equivalent worth).

If you do not meet these entry requirements, or are not ready to commit to a full MSc, you may be able to use our online short courses as a route into this degree.

If you’ve passed CFA Level 1 or selected ACCA examinations, you may be eligible for exemptions from specific courses within this MSc, subject to approval. Please visit the programme webpage for full details.

Join an MSc Finance degree designed to help you develop the most in-demand skills in the finance sector, with optional courses available to help you prepare for Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) qualification.

You’ll deepen your knowledge of core financial theory, processes and techniques – before going on to explore fast-developing specialisms including fintech, big data applications, financial and banking regulations, and international finance markets.

This programme is open to graduates from any discipline; you do not need to have a degree in finance or business to enrol.

English Language Requirements

To study for a Postgraduate Taught degree at the University of Aberdeen it is essential that you can speak, understand, read, and write English fluently. The minimum requirements for this degree are as follows:

IELTS Academic:

OVERALL - 6.5 with: Listening - 5.5; Reading - 6.0; Speaking - 5.5; Writing - 6.0

TOEFL iBT:

OVERALL - 90 with: Listening - 17; Reading - 21; Speaking - 20; Writing - 21

PTE Academic:

OVERALL - 62 with: Listening - 59; Reading - 59; Speaking - 59; Writing - 59

Cambridge English B2 First, C1 Advanced or C2 Proficiency:

OVERALL - 176 with: Listening - 162; Reading - 169; Speaking - 162; Writing - 169

Fees and funding

This is a pay-as-you-go qualification, meaning you do not have to pay the full tuition fee upfront. You can spread the cost and pay as you go, term by term.
