Course content

Scotland’s heritage and history fascinate a global audience. The study of the Scottish past is an integral part of the intellectual life of the University of Aberdeen. With access to a rich stream of source materials located within the University and across the region, the School of Divinity, History and Philosophy’s Departments of History and History of Art conduct internationally renowned research and possess a strong track record in making their expertise available to a broad range of constituencies. Acclaimed research projects include those on the Aberdeen Bestiary, the Burgh Records, the Buildings of Scotland, and the Scottish Emigration Database.

The University of Aberdeen is the first Scottish institution to offer a course that combines History and History of Art in this way. This programme affords students the opportunity to study Scotland’s written, visual and material pasts in depth and will also provide the intellectual tools for them to pursue their own particular interests.
